Ken a very good article. It really is sad to see how easily we've been manipulated by the oil industry but if you read William Marsden's book, Stupid to the last Drop, you won't be suprised at all. In the early 50's U.S. and Canadian engineers were looking at "nuking" the tar sands to liquify and seperate the oil from the sand! Though the explosions aren't radio active the end result is a devasted landscape, ruined for generations. The silence of most in the press is deafening, a really sad state of affairs for a country that claims to embrace the wilderness. As a species we have become disconnected from the natural world and that is just fine with international oil companies who pray the public doesn't wake up to the mess their children will enherit.

It seems these days that everyone has a comment to make about global warming. Discussion about a topic as important as this one is imperative and necessary. The holier than thou approach of this article and others like it, do not I believe add anything meaningful to this discussion. What I would like to see sprinkled among the biting, satirical comments is some well thought out suggestions on what can be done to address the problem, unless you consider "enviro-retrofits and reduced packaging" to be the best way to combat global warming. However, if you do insist on taking what is percieved as the moral high road, I would strongly suggest that you do not have an advertisement for a $100,000, 300 HP SUV, in the middle of your article. You should have at least buried it in the back or even better had an ad for a Toyota Prius.

Did you know that USA and Europe blocked Wikileaks? What do you think about it?
Hope for no silence
