The Walrus Contests

The 2006 Winners of
The Walrus Student Field Notes Contest

We are pleased to publish the results of last year's Student Field Notes Contest! In "True North," education student Chris Martin's winning entry, read about what teaching in a remote Labrador school can teach about the philosophy of knowledge. Chris's prize was $500, a year's subscription, and having his story edited by a Walrus editor then published at walrusmagazine.com. You can also read the runner-up entries, exclusively online: Chad Berscheid's encounter with a spy in Sudan, Matthew Oleynik's impressions of a criminal courtroom in a rough Toronto neighbourhood, and Sarah Polcz's eerie tour of North Korea.
