Walrus receives 2008 Arthur Kroeger College Award

The Walrus Foundation will receive the 2008 Arthur Kroeger College Award for Public Discourse.

The Arthur Kroeger College Awards for Public Affairs at Carleton University recognizes The Walrus Foundation for its contributions to The Walrus magazine through long-form journalism and informed discussions on important social issues. The Award for Public Discourse is based on the understanding that a democracy requires vibrant public debate.

Previous recipients of this award have included Mark Starowicz, The Literary Review of Canada, and the CBC's Rick Mercer, among others.

"The Walrus Foundation's mandate is to extend public discourse on matters vital to Canadians, and we are thrilled with this recognition of the considerable talents and efforts of all staff and contributors in achieving our goals" says Shelley Ambrose, executive director of The Walrus Foundation and publisher of The Walrus.
